Position Overview:
The Associate I is a developing design professional responsible for supporting specific portions­ of projects under the guidance of senior team members. This role focuses on strengthening­ skills in design, documentation, and coordination while contributing to project deliverables.­

Core Responsibilities:
• Assists in the preparation of drawings, models, and design documentation.
• Supports project teams with coordination of project information and deliverables.
• Participates in project meetings and assists with documentation of notes and action­ items.
• Conducts research on materials, building systems, and design solutions.
• Assists in developing design presentations and visual materials.
• Maintains organized project files in accordance with firm standards.
• Supports senior staff with assigned project tasks and deadlines.
• Additional duties as assigned to support the overall success of the team.­

Required Skills & Abilities:
• Basic understanding of architectural or interior design principles.
• Proficiency in Revit; working knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative­ Suite.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaborate as part of a team.

Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or a related field (NAAB-accredited­ preferred for candidates pursuing licensure), or equivalent professional work­ experience.
• 1-2 years of professional experience in architecture, interior design, or a related field.
• Recently licensed architect or actively pursuing licensure preferred.
• Internship or prior experience in a design firm is beneficial.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
• Ability to review drawings, documents, and design materials in detail.
• Occasional travel to project sites or meetings may be required.
• Ability to move throughout office and construction environments as needed.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times as needed

Historic Preservation- Project Manager with Architecture Degree

Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as Project Manager for historic preservation and adaptive reuse projects from concept through construction administration. Projects may be located throughout the State of Florida.
  2. Lead coordination with potential ACHP, SHPO, local Historic Preservation Boards, planning departments, and review agencies.
  3. Manage projects involving National Register listed properties, contributing resources, and locally designated historic structures and neighborhoods.
  4. Oversee preparation of historic documentation, including conditions assessments, preservation plans, and scope narratives. Supervise production of building scanning
  5. Guide design teams to ensure compliance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation, as well as other State and/or Local historic preservation requirement as applicable to specific projects.
  6. Manage client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor on preservation strategy including support for grant-funded projects, tax credit coordination, or phased funding strategies.­ Carefully review with the President of the company.
  7. Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and staffing plans, with a focus on risk management for historic projects.
  8. Lead agency presentations, public hearings, and community meetings as required.
  9. Provide technical oversight for renovation details, materials, and restoration methodologies.
  10. Review construction documents for preservation compliance and constructability.
  11. Support during construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, site visits, and field observations for historic work.
  12. Mentor junior staff on preservation best practices, documentation standards, and regulatory processes.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture / Historic Preservation from an NCARB accredited University/program.
  2. 10+ years of professional experience in architecture, with a strong focus on historic preservation, renovation, and adaptive reuse projects.
  3. Demonstrated expertise working with historic regulatory agencies, including SHPO, local Historic Preservation Boards, and planning departments.
  4. In-depth knowledge of the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation and their application in real-world projects.
  5. Experience managing projects involving National Register listed properties, contributing resources, or locally designated historic structures.
  6. Strong understanding of historic Florida construction methods, materials, and restoration techniques.
  7. Comprehensive knowledge of Florida Building Codes and the permitting process.
  8. Comfort presenting to clients, public boards, review committees, and community stakeholders.
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  10. Excellent organization, detail-oriented, and self-motivation skills.
  11. Excellent team skills and abilities to collaborate with staff, consultants, and others.
  12. Hand sketching of ideas and concepts is a plus.
  13. Professional Architecture License (preferred).

Software Knowledge:

  1. 3D Software: REVIT experience required.
  2. 2D Software: Adobe products (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  3. Lumion and/or Enscape is a plus.
  4. Bluebeam is a plus.
  5. BQE Core is a plus.
